Flaine sits in a high, snow-sure bowl at 1,600 m, and it is architecturally unlike anywhere else in the Alps: a deliberate 1960s Bauhaus-influenced design, with sculptures by Picasso and Dubuffet standing in the middle of the resort.
It anchors the Grand Massif, around 265 km of linked piste shared with Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt, including the Cascades — a long, gentle 14 km run back down to Sixt. The bowl holds snow well and the resort is almost entirely ski-in ski-out. Winteride reaches it from Geneva in about an hour and a half.
